There's only so many museums and monuments one can take. Although, the historical center of Istanbul, where most of the museums and monuments are located, is doable on foot and in open air; one can still start itching for fresh air and open spaces...

It is then time to delve into the outdoor activities of Istanbul. You don't need to be a fitness guru to enjoy the natural wonders of Istanbul either. In fact, the residents of Istanbul also enjoy outdoors around the Bosphorus; walking idly, chit-chatting, having tea at a cafe around the coast. The legendary "Bosphorus air" is the trademark of outdoor activities of Istanbul; and as such they come just as active or relaxed as you'd like.

Summers will introduce excursions into the coast of Black Sea. Residents pack their picnic bags and hop into their cars on sunny summer Sundays. They reach out to Kilyos and the forests for fresh air and the Sea. Yet, others will take a ferry and ride to the Princes' Islands in the Marmara Sea.

Brunches by the Bosphorus, long lazy walks around the coast, shopping in the open air on the Bagdat Street, romantic get-aways at the islands are only some of the things one can enjoy outdoors in Istanbul.
