NileGuide Expert tip:

Dont' argue with the chef when he does not cook your steak medium or well-done, as you may have asked for. Dukkan Steak House argues that meat shall be cooked and eaten rare. If the meat is good, rare will taste like "well cooked"; if not, then the meat is not good...

Description:

Emre Mermer, who is the founder of the butchershop Dukkan and later on the steakhouse and the burger bar, is an educated, wise man, is a 2nd generation stock-farmer himself. He founded the Dukkan Butchershop in 1998 and immediately started distribution to many elite restaurants and hotels in Istanbul. In 2004, he and his brother, Bulent Mermerci, decided to go retail with Dukkan Steakhouse in Armutlu -formerly a shantytown, now changed immensely thanks to the Dukkan Steakhouse. Within the first days of its opening, Dukkan Steakhouse was immediately filled with steak-lovers and its narrow street was literally re-paved by 'Range Rovers's and 'Mercedes's. The first steakhouse was a simple establishment, located right inside the butcher shop. There were only two tables of six, yet the turnover was so fast, anyone could have been sitting next to anyone in an hour. Within a few months, Emre Mermerci expanded the space and created a new space for the steakhouse only. In time, the brothers grew even larger and established their second branch in Beymen Department Store in Nisantasi. With the expansion, there did arrive a few unwanted costs for the loyal clients -such as increasing prices and diminishing services. Some of those who loved them stayed with them, and some others did switch for the emerging copy-cats -new steakhouse (some for better, some for worse).
