- The port of Istanbul has been the access point to Istanbul for over 2500 years now. Hairdar Pasha as the port is also known is located in the peninsula between Europe and Asia and is the largest sea port in Turkey and the largest container port of Istanbul. It loads and unloads a cargo of over six million metric tons in a year. The two breakwaters of the port protect it sufficiently from pety thefts and intrusions. This port has been a witness to varigated cultures as dealers, sailors and merchants from different ethinicities bring with them their lifestyles and rituals. Similarly, this place has been departing a piece of Istanbul's culture while exporting various local goods worldwide.
