Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum

Description:

  • The brainchild of Madam Tien Soeharto, the late Indonesian first lady, this museum houses at least 10,000 items including accumulated gifts from the 30 years of President Soeharto's rule. Displays include the Indonesian Republic's warship that served during the 1963 mission of liberating Irian Jaya, a Chinese princess's jade bed, thousands of household items and plenty of gold jewelry. The museum resembles a Tumpeng (rice cone), which is the centerpiece of every Javanese ceremonial banquet and which symbolizes gratitude, welfare and eternity. Nine small Tumpengs surround the large one.
