• On 5 hectares (12 acres) of prime beachfront land a short drive east of the center of Negril, Sandals Negril is an all-inclusive, couples-only (straight and gay) resort that attracts a basically young, convivial, and unsophisticated audience. It's far more active and freewheeling than the more formal Sandals properties in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. The casual, well-furnished rooms have a tropical motif, and come in a wide range of styles, but are generally spacious. The best units open directly onto the beach. Honeymooners usually end up in a Jamaican-built four-poster mahogany bed. For a balcony and sea view, you have to pay the top rates.

  Rates include all meals; snacks; unlimited drinks, day and night, at one of four bars (including two swim-up pool bars); and nightly entertainment, including theme parties. In the typical Sandals style, the food is rather standard, but there is great variety and no one goes hungry.
