Blue Mountain Bicycle Tour

Description:

  • This bicycle tour is a full day, all-inclusive, downhill riding tour throughout the Jamaican countryside. The enjoyable, 95% non-pedaling excursion is ideal for anyone who wishes to experience the dramatic Jamaican Blue Mountains, island culture and lush, tropical habitats. Enjoy the beautiful surrounds all while riding out in the fresh Jamaican air!

The first leg of your tour will give you the rare opportunity to view the historical and rural side of Jamaica, not often seen by many visitors. On the way up to Blue Mountain, keep an eye out for 'Papillion's Cafe', one of the most picturesque stops on the route. You'll stop here to enjoy a wonderful Jamaican brunch with a touch of Cajun influence. After a tasty meal, there is an orientation session, where you'll be briefed about your day and what's in store for you.

You'll then travel to Hardware Gap, the highest point in the Blue Mountains accessible by vehicle. At an impressive 5600 feet (1700 meters), the views are truly breathtaking. The Blue Mountain Peak is the highest point in the entire Caribbean, towering at 7,402 feet (2250 meters). From Holywell National Park, you'll have a wonderful view of Kingston, Jamaica's capital. All participants are then fitted with protective gear and bicycles, in preparation for a thrilling and enlightening downhill ride.

The descent begins! It is while coasting down this part of the mountainside that you will experience the dramatically beautiful landscape with its pristine streams and waterfalls, misty slopes, varied species of Jamaican birds, wildflowers and plants. After stopping for lunch, you are treated to a coffee demonstration. Blue Mountain Peak is home to the famous Blue Mountain coffee, one of the world's most rare and expensive.

The conclusion of your tour is crowned with a swim at the wonderful, secluded waterfalls. A simply spectacular way to end an already dynamic tour!
