- This strip of white sand beach is one of picturesque Portland's best kept secrets. The waters are excellent for swimming, and visitors constantly come for a dip or just to laze away while they get a tan. Best of all, there is a restaurant and bar on the beach. Just stop by and enjoy some steamed or roasted fish. Other seafood items on sale include lobster, shrimp and of course, conch. There is is also a bar, game room and pool at Shan Shay.
