- Founded in 1948, the University of the West Indies is a renowned educational institute. It was based on the guidelines of the Asquith Commission that was established to review and improve higher educational system in British Colonies. The alumni includes 8 Prime Ministers, Sir Arthur Lewis (Nobel Laureate), Dennis Scott (poet) and many other renowned personalities. Presently, the university offers a variety of study courses for undergraduates and graduates.
