Day Note:

Jamaican culture involves art music, dancing and of course - eating! The art is clearly a reflection of local culture while seasonal food festivals showcase the cuisine. While music is an everyday part of life, shows like the jazz festival hold special appeal for music lovers - but be sure to schedule this into your plans in advance.

The Olympia Gallery, although not operational, still displays artwork of Jamaica's artists of the 70s and 80s. Be sure to take note of the commanding sculpture of a couple in the central courtyard, source of much controversy when it was first installed :it is now an accepted landmark in the Papine area. The building's architecture is itself an interesting work of art.
