Weekend In Ocho Rios

Dunn's River is a five minute drive or twenty minutes by foot outside of Ocho Rios centre. Taxis abound in the town but you may want to take those that say JUTA. Dunn’s River is a five minute drive or twenty minutes by foot outside of Ocho Rios centre. Taxis abound in the town but you may want to take those that say JUTA. They are pricier but more reliable and registered with the Jamaica Tourist Board. The trip to Dunn’s River can also be done from your hotel by ferry/mini-cruise as these are also offered –just ask. This trip does require some physical stamina and going up with a guided group is recommended so you get assistance and who knows maybe make a friend. After a day climbing the falls, if you still have energy then Island Village home to Margeuritaville, Ocho Rios has a trendy open air night club on the sea side. This is open all day, but Jamaicans tend to start the party after midnight. Local and international music are played by the deejay aka ‘selector’. Island Village is also home to a number of shops with local craft and souvenirs.  hide

Chukka Adventures as the name suggests is for the adventurer or thrill seeker. The horse back ride into the ocean is a rush as is anyone of the number of activities they offer from zip lining to ATV. After the adrenaline rush of the day an evening on the sea on a red Stripe Cruise is perfect for unwinding. Sundays are for the family and kids in particular love swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove. This place is also good for just hanging out. A quiet day is nicely complemented by a quiet evening with the family enjoying Italian cuisine at Evita’s.
