The Best of NileGuide
- Most of Jerusalem's best hotels are located in or around the downtown area. Whatever your budget, you should be able to find a hotel that fits your bill in and around downtown. At the high end, there's the venerable King David Hotel, situated within walking distance of both the Old City and central Jerusalem. The public areas are elegant and classy, and many rooms and suites overlook the walls of the Old City. Service is understated and attentive. At the more moderate end of the spectrum, our top pick for downtown Jerusalem hotels is the Harmony Hotel, located in the heart of the shopping and nightlife area of Nachlat Shiva and the Ben Yehuda Pedestrian mall. It's one of Jerusalem's newest hotels with up to date rooms and great service--and the location can't be beat if you're looking to be close to the heart of Jerusalem. Another great choice for a small, budget-price downtown hotel is the Montefiore on Schatz Street, just off King George Street. Schatz is one of Jerusalem's newest pedestrian -only streets that is filling up with boutiques, bookstores and cafes--and an active arts fair every Friday. The Montefiore's rooms are basic but clean and an added bonus is the top-notch Anjelica Restaurant right next door. A good mid-price choice for visitors looking to be close to downtown is the Leonardo Plaza (formerly the Sheraton Plaza) on King George Street. This large hotel boasts several good restaurants and a nice outdoor pool, along with a pleasant bar and lobby lounge and a good array of shops.
