Description:
Set in a vineyard, Kela David (David's slingshot) is a wonderful place for country appetizers and wine, and also for a major meal. For a light repast, the plate of cheese and peppers, toasted in olive oil, garlic, and rosemary, and served with fabulous homemade bread and kalamata olives, is shareable and under NIS 45 ($11/£5.60). The olive, onion, and health breads are sensational. Herbed lamb or chicken, slow roasted on hot stones in a traditional taboon (stone oven) for 12 hours, head a list of main courses that also includes gooseliver in white-wine sauce, as well as trout, pastas, and steak. Salads, desserts, and coffees are excellent. Virgin olive oil (not importable into the United States) and local wines are for sale.
