Cinematheque, 11 Hebron Road
Jerusalem's International Film Festival attracts dozens of the top directors, producers and film stars to the Cinematheque in mid-July. This year the festival will take place between July 6-17, and while the complete program has not yet been released, film buffs will want to put this event on their calendars.
The opening night ceremony and screening is always held at the magnificent Sultans Pool outdoor venue, just below the walls of the Old City. The audience of 6,000 spectators gets to rub shoulders with some of Israel's cultural glitterati who arrive from all over the country to take part. Special greetings from Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and music and fireworks to dazzle the out of town visitors all make up part of the experience.
You can expect to see the best of Israel's new films, as well as a wide selection of new releases and classics from all over the globe.
