Description:
This is another worthwhile jewel of a museum, with a strong permanent collection of Islamic art and consistently superb visiting exhibitions. A wonderful collection of Palestinian costumes and embroidery, the great national folk craft of the region, tops the exhibits of local art; the Islamic jewelry gallery is an additional pleasure. The museum also houses a large and fascinating international collection of clocks, including the famous Salomons collection of Breguet watches from Paris dating from 1769 to 1823. A collection of Islamic carpets was added in 1999.
