NileGuide Expert Says:
The best place in town to mingle with the locals and try out the abundance of local produce.
NileGuide Expert tip:
Quietest time to visit the market is Sunday morning. To see the real action, try Fridays. Parking is very limited.
Description:
- Jerusalem's central and very colorful outdoor produce and food market, where it seems that the whole city is shopping on a Friday or eve of holiday. Great prices; ultra-fresh produce, fish, meat, fabulous spices and baked goods and even a smattering of chic fashion boutiques. The aroma of Middle Eastern Jewish food will draw you to some of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Fresh juice stands and cafes are easy to find. There's even a little synagogue tucked away in one of the market alleys where you can join the merchants for afternoon prayers.
