Art and history combine in this museum in a historic Jerusalem courtyard.

  • Description:

    • Holocaust survivor Moshe Tzvi Berger immigrated to Israel after a successful art career.  He became religiously observant and the Lubavitcher rebbe suggested that he use his talents to illustrate the Psalms.  Berger spent years painting each Psalm in a kabbalistic style using only the primary colors.  His works in assorted sizes are displayed in the little museum that's housed in one of the few remaining courtyards of 19th century Jerusalem, right next to the house of Israel's first chief rabbi, Rabbi Kook.  Prints are available for purchase and the elderly Mr. Berger who lives in an apartment in the courtyard still puts in the occasional appearance at the Museum, where he will recount the principles behind his art.
