Description:

  • Located in the Doornfontein suburb, Johannesburg Stadium can hold as many as 37,500 sports fans, and has hosted such major events as the 8th IAAF World Cup in Athletics. Part of the Ellis Park World of Sports precinct, this was formerly the home of the popular Orlando Pirates football club, before they moved to the neighboring Coca-Cola Park, which is also one of the venues for the 2010 World Cup. A variety of athletic events are held here, including boxing, wrestling, and track and field, as well as art, cultural, and community festivals.
