  • Kauai is an island filled with plenty of peace and quiet, but locals and visitors alike enjoy a night out. Despite the fact that many islanders are early to bed and early to rise, there are hangouts for night owls. Some island bars might close early, but not too early that you will miss the sunset, sips and friends. And if your first choice closes, hop on to the next one (but remember to drink responsibly). For a real feel of the island, stop by Duke's Barefoot Bar on Kalapaki Beach, featuring fun island drinks like mai tais and live ukulele music. If the view does not get you, the indoor koi pond and waterfall will. Nearby, pool lovers can play a game at the Nawiliwili Tavern, a real neighborhood bar. Kalypso Restaurant may be a restaurant, but it is situated around a stunning bar – complete with specialty made bamboo glass holders. For a glass of fine wine and a relaxing place to share tapas with friends, put Bar Acuda in Hanalei on your list. Richie's Bar and Grill is one of the late night bars offering live music and dancing. For an amazing oceanfront view, garb a drink at The Point, located on the grounds of the Sheraton Kauai Resort, then take on the dance floor. Other popular island bars include the Happy Talk Lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort, Stevenson's Library at the Grand Hyatt and Tapaz Martini Lounge in Kapaa. At Gaylord's at Kilohana, relax in an outdoor setting with a cool drink or a glass of wine. For an introduction to island drinks that you may never have heard of, head to Rob's Good Times Grill, where the bartenders take pride in each drink they make and live performers and karaoke abound most nights.
