  • One thing you see around every corner in Kauai is the variety of tours that take you under water, on the water, on the trails and in the air. Tours are an excellent way to see and experience Hawaii. Charter a boat to cruise along the Na Pali Coast during sunset, or watch humpback whales (December through March) while they frolic in the ocean. Boat tours also provide rides to prime snorkeling and scuba spots, and the "forbidden island" of Niihau. If you want a little more adventure with your vacation, and a little more work, sign up for a kayaking tour in Poipu or along the Huleia River. Helicopter tours offer spectacular views, many that can only be seen by helicopter. Fly over the Na Pali Coast, taking in deep green canyons and stunning waterfalls, or get a bird's eye view of Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. For a smooth ride and a large bubble-window for fantastic pictures, tour the island on an airvans tour. For a hands-on experience, try powered hang gliding – created for thrill seekers and offering a seat without a window. If you want some wheels with your fun (watch out, you will come out as red as the dirt that covers Kauai), explore Kauai on ATVs or mountain bike along Waimea trails. Swing along the trees during a ziplining tour, ride the Plantation Train for an informative and relaxing history of the island, inner tube down old plantation watering canals, or take a walk along the Koloa Heritage Trail. Whether exploring ancient Hawaiian ruins, snapping shots of famous natural movie sets, or strolling along the prized botanicals of Kauai, you will experience more about Kauai than you ever knew you needed, but not nearly enough.
