Description:

  • After two successful restaurants in San Francisco (The Slow Club and 42°), chef/owner Jim Moffat up and moved to the tiny town of Hanalei and opened this sleek, romantic restaurant specializing in his favorite tapas dishes from the southern European regions along 42° latitude (southern France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal). In an atmosphere of candle lights and exotic mouthwatering aroma coming from the open exhibition kitchen, the creative dishes range from ono escabeche, which is fresh fish braised in olive oil with burned garlic and tomato ($15) to a lemon risotto with lobster, shrimp, scallops, and squid ($26) to a grilled rib-eye steak with shoestring potatoes and caramelized shallots ($28). There is an excellent wine selection, with some 50 handpicked, estate-bottled wines, mainly from Italy, France, Spain, Oregon, and California (with an emphasis on Rohne-style grapes). Half of the wines are available by the glass.

    Had a lovely dinner here

  • The food was great and quite inventive. It was very fun to share a bunch of small plates. Most of them were really good. The service was also amazing.
