Poipu Beach Park

Description:

• Located on the sunny south shore of Kauai, this beach is easily one of the best, and therefore very popular, in the islands. The sand is soft and white and makes great sand castles, and the water is clear and warm with gentle waves. To the left of the beach is an area that is somewhat protected by a rock break, and it only gets a few feet deep farthest out, making it perfect for kids (with parents supervising of course).
  
  Poipu Beach offers lots of space to stretch out and relax. There is a playground that on the left that allows children the ability to run from water to park, and there are several pavilions, restrooms, picnic tables and lifeguards to make it safe. Parking is limited, especially on long holiday weekends when locals arrive early. The park is open from dawn to dusk and there is a recycling center in the parking lot.
  
  Restaurants and shopping in located nearby, so you can bring a picnic or take a short drive for a meal. Don't leave valuables in the car.
