Where to take teens (15 & 18) to surf (novice-able to stand up on there own) and have hotel/condo nearby?

The best place to learn to surf and paddle board is at Kalapaki Beach. The waves are learner friendly and forgiving. Its down by the marriot hotel in Lihue. As far as staying somewhere, that will depend upon your budget. My landlord told me that a friend of his stayed at the Waipouli Beach resort in Kapaa. Its a central location to all sides of the island. Also it has some local restaurants that are good. Hope this helps.
