- Fort Zachary Taylor State Historic Site is Florida's southernmost state park site encompassing 87 pristine acres. Within the 87 acres, visitors will find a plethora of outdoor recreations. The list includes a bike route, a fantastic historic fort whose importance spanned several war periods, a great spot for saltwater shore fishing, unsurpassed sunset viewing opportunities and some of the finest snorkeling found at the Keys. To enhance the site, breakwaters have been constructed offshore attracting a large diversity of corals and tropical fish.
The beach concessionaire, located at the picnic site, is a great addition to the park. Visitors will find the usual drinks and beach snack food, but also snorkeling gear, beach chairs, and a sundry of other useful vacation supplies. The picnic grounds offer 50 tables, grills, and an adjacent swimming beach with changing house, modern restrooms and showers.
