• Stalwart and reliable, with a reputation for solid, well-prepared Italian and Austrian food, this restaurant lies on the northern edge of Klagenfurt's commercial core near the local hospital. The dining room is large but cozy, trimmed with dark-stained wood and furnished with modern-looking tables and chairs and high-tech lighting. Menu items lean toward Italy, with touches of Austrian specialties thrown in as well, and include homemade pastas; schnitzels; a savory roasted goose; hearty soups; crepes (including flavorful versions with spinach and/or mushrooms); risottos; roasted pork served with local cheeses and sage; and a rich focus every autumn on game dishes. The choice of fish is wide, with an emphasis on meaty "noble" fish that include sea bass and sea trout.
