Lush/Sirocco

Description:

• Feel like playing a part in an over-the-top theatrical set, all candelabras, giant mirrors, and feather boas? Or would you prefer a more pared-down, modern-chic atmosphere with wonderful views and natural light streaming in? These two sister restaurants, situated next to each other on Thesen island, offer very different vibes -- the food is a little more experimental at larger-than-life Lush (chorizo and grilled squid salad; green curry mussels; a great mushroom risotto), while minimalist Sirocco offers more predictable seafood with an Asian twist. Sirocco is known for its prawns (order the Sirocco platter and you can try three varieties) and is considered more consistent in terms of quality, but many prefer the sense of occasion that Lush accords with its "grand" decor. At press time, Lush was closed for renovations.
