Description:

Carmen Vinothek's your place if you fancy a rare vintage. The nice surprise is the bar's four Vino Tech units – machines which allow customers to taste 32 varieties of rare wines by the glass. Tasting portions are available at 25, 75 and 150 mls, from as low as RM5/ US$2, which means you can still drink on a budget. Machines are operated by a magnetic strip card (similar to that of a hotel room key) purchased at the bar. The card acts as a pre-payment card and can record purchases like a debit card. Simply slide your card through the slot position, place the glass below the nozzle and select the tasting portion you'd like. Happy hours run between 5pm and 9pm daily – buy a bottle of wine and get another free. For those wanting to develop an appreciation for wine, there's 'Sunday School' with a special luncheon promoting wines. Food accompaniments include oyster Kilpatrick, French and Spanish Cheese, and Iberico and Serrano Ham. A live band plays jazz music every Monday to Saturday between 8pm to 12mn next door at The Whiskey Bar.
