  • KL's restaurant scene is constantly evolving. One thing you can be certain of is that whatever your budget, you can expect good food and great service. KLites have discerning palates that ensure restaurant kitchens churn out only the best food. You'll find a variety of restaurants in KL. Cuisines vary from local to Asian and French. Lately the trend has been leaning towards fine dining - exquisite food, stellar service and ambiance. Here, you'll find the most delectable Italian, French and Malay dishes delivered to your table. Restaurant kitchens in the city are helmed by experienced local and foreign chefs who put their creativity and ingenuity to work.

Topping our list is the ever-popular Bijan Bar and Restaurant, a modern Malay restaurant. It's the restaurant to take visiting family and friends for an initiation into Malay cuisine. You'll find dishes remaining true to age-old recipes; dishes at Bijan taste like they have come straight out of grandma's kitchen. The ambiance is great - plenty of wood concrete and glass to complement the traditional, local flavors.

Coming in second is Yut Kee, offering city folks an authentic kopitiam (coffee shop) experience. Service is always brisk here and the menu packs favorites such as toast with kaya, roast pork and local coffee. People come here for a nostalgic feel of how things used to be. At number three is Seri Nirvana Maju, serving up rice and curries on a banana leaf. The setting is basic and communal with long canteen like tables but the food is exceptional. Roll up your sleeves and be prepared to eat like a local - with your fingers.

Frangipani Restaurant and Bar and Il Lido Restaurant and Lounge are the city's top two fine dining restaurants. Frangipani has long been converting palates with their mod-French menu while Il Lido, a more recent entry into the dining scene, has created quite a buzz with their contemporary and well-executed Italian dishes.
