There's never a dull moment if you're exploring KL. There's plenty to do - whether your preference is for something sporty, nature-based, hip and fun or cultural. Whether you're traveling solo or with your family, the things you can see and do are varied and exciting.
Nothing beats being whisked up on a high-speed lift to the Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge- our top pick. Stroll along the glass-encased pathway which is some 170meters above ground. You'll enjoy fantastic views of the city all around you. When you're visiting the city this is one thing you won't want to miss.
Our next pick is the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit. You have to coincide your trip with the race, which typically takes place anytime from mid March to early April. Be prepared for the race tracks burn up with serious action- KL after all has one of the most challenging tracks. Along with the race, there are countless parties, concerts and events to celebrate the sporting event.
Batu Caves is a must visit, especially during the Thaipusam festival when large crowds of devotees pay homage with a procession and a demonstration of devotion that will stun and awe visitors. Devotees pierce their skin; carry pots of milk or portable altars. Even if you're not in town in late January or February, a visit to the temple is just exhilarating. Climb some 200 plus steps to get to the 100 year-old temple that's lodged within the caves. The fireflies at Kuala Selangor are a great outing for the entire family. Kids will especially love the excursion - it's simply amazing to be outdoors on a wooden boat quietly watching the twinkling fireflies.
KL has a culturally rich heritage- exploring Chinatown's temples, Little India and Jalan Alor will give you an understanding of the city's history and how its culture and heritage define it.
