NileGuide Expert tip:
Everyone's got to experience Carcosa Seri Negara - it's majestic and a heritage accommodation.A more affordable alternative would be to head over for afternoon tea.
Description:
- The Carcosa Seri Negara is a historical landmark in itself; it occupies a hilltop heritage mansion, which is surrounded by 16 hectares of manicured gardens. Built in 1896, it was the private residence of Sir Frank Swettenham. Internally the hotel has undergone several changes – what had once been drawing rooms, studies and small guesthouses have now been converted into suites and banquet rooms. Inside, the hotel is regally charming with five suites furnished with private bar, writing desk, king-sized beds, separate walk-in showers, DVD, coffee and tea making facilities, and IDD with access to internet. The Grand Makmur suite is the largest with two private verandas, a colonial four-poster king size bed, a separate living room, dressing room and bathroom with Jacuzzi, and your very own private butler. Be sure to enjoy tea and scones in the mansion's original drawing room. Externally, much of the hotel's original design and architecture have been preserved.
