  • NileGuide Expert tip:

The restaurant is located in front of the covered bazaar at Masjid India; right behind the Masjid Jamek LRT Station.

  • Description:

    • Keep an eye out for this restaurant when browsing around the Masjid India area. It doesn't look like much from the outside, so you may easily miss it. Inside, this no-frills eatery is packed with the lunchtime crowd - lawyers and staff from nearby courthouses. Jai Hind is immensely popular - the food is authentic, freshly cooked and served at affordable prices. The restaurant is bustling with people coming and going, servers dishing out food and serving while chefs churn out fluffy chapattis (griddled flat breads cooked in tandoor ovens), naan (leavened, oven-baked flatbread) and other Punjabi and Northern Indian favorites. Breads are served with dhall or lentil gravy. Select your food (accompaniments such as curries, fried meat dishes like kheema – minced meat and peas, and vegetables such as palak paneer – a mix of spinach and paneer cheese) from a counter, to be eaten with rice on a round steel plate. Their jewel-colored sweets such as gulab jamun, jalebi and rasmalai are a must.
