NileGuide Expert tip:
Though open throughout the day, KL'ites mostly hang out here past midnight for their supper snack.
Description:
- The mamak culture is a big phenomenon in KL - here you sit, under the stars, late into the night eating and sipping your 'teh tarik' or tea prepared by hawker stalls. These days these very stalls have evolved into restaurants. Nasi Kandar Pelita packages it all well – serving up some spicy Indian Muslim dishes in a proper, well-furnished restaurant. Their menu is extensive- try sup kambing or oxtail soup and maggi goreng (fried noodles). Their specialty however is the nasi kandar – a meal of white rice with a mixture of curries, drizzled over your rice. Your meal can be accompanied by fried chicken, fish or squid along with some vegetables. Nasi Kandar Pelita originates from the northern island of Penang and now has several outlets in varying locations around the country.
