Description:

  • This is a joyous celebration for the Chinese community, which falls on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar. Families gather for reunion dinners on the eve of the festival. During this time, hotels, shopping complexes and homes are decorated with red lanterns. The Chinese visit temples to seek the blessings of the God of Prosperity and give ang pow, red packets containing money. Lion dances and the burning of firecrackers are common sights during the festival, which lasts for 15 days.
