Forest Research Institute Malaysia

Description:

  • If you're a nature lover, you're bound to enjoy FRIM. Approximately 16 kilometers north-west of the city, FRIM is a sprawling 600 hectares of tropical forest with an abundance of flora and fauna (almost 15,000 species of plants). It's a world away from the city center and its skyscrapers. You'll be amazed by the living museum of trees that greet you. Explore the many nature trails and discover for yourselves the countless species of flora and fauna. Begin at the information counter – you'll be given a briefing and some brochures on the plants that you'll find on your trails. The most exciting part of FRIM is its canopy walk- suspended 30 meters above ground and spanning 200 meters, it provides an extensive view of the trees around you and the city beyond. You become one with the forest as you walk through the hanging canopy. In order to do the canopy walk, you'll have to purchase a ticket from the souvenir counter (RM10 for foreigners, RM5 for locals and RM1 for children seven to 12 years of age). Guides are available for a fee to take big groups through the canopy walk. At the end of the canopy walk is a waterfall.
