Level 3, Suria KLCC, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Having an art gallery in a shopping mall (such as the Suria KLCC) makes the gallery more accessible to the public. Galeri Petronas is a contemporary art gallery established in 1993 by the multinational Petronas with the aim of promoting the arts and culture. The gallery moved to their new premises at Suria KLCC in 1998, calling the spacious circular gallery of 2000 square meters their new home. The gallery is a multi-functional and flexible space which can be easily transformed and adapted for art displays. The Main Gallery and Bustle gallery can hold exhibitions simultaneously or create interesting exhibition layouts. The gallery is also equipped with two multimedia spaces, three workshops and a lecture room- perfect for art demonstrations, forums, classes and lectures, and performances. Woods Bagot, a global design studio, was responsible for the versatile design of this gallery. Galeri Petronas has been bringing in foreign artists but their focus is on the local art scene, championing well-established and up-and-coming artists. Their art and educational programs, forums and seminars are highly popular.
