Famous food will be Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai as answered by Hung. However, a trip to Penang Island which is known as the Food Capital of Malaysia will indulge you in terms of variety, taste and enthusiasm. When you talk about food in Penang to any Malaysian, they will instantly light up with delightful suggestions.
Try them all if you can come: Laksa, Mi Rebus, Popiah, Char Kaoy Teow, Wan Tan Mee, Ikan Bakar, Sotong Kangkung, Rojak, Nasi Kandar. Desserts like Chendol, Bubur Sago, Bubur Pulut Hitam and the list goes on.
I will be glad to assist if you come.

most FAMOUS. in a recent radio survey, nasi lemak took the honours. nasi lemak - rice cooked in coconut milk, served with chili (sambal), anchovies, cucumber, egg (hard-boiled or sunny side up) n peanuts, sometimes with kangkung (water spinach).
coffee-shop talk on famous food may instigate fisticuffs here, as each race, malay, chinese n indians has different opinions, just as political leanings.
nasi lemak is my favourite, but many others say char keoy teow - fried white flat noodle (similar to the one used in pho), with prawns, cockles, eggs, lard. sometimes with crab meat.
