Failaka Island

Description:

  • This island is a perfect mélange of rich history and natural beauty. Located just off the coast of mainland Kuwait City, it was known as 'Ikaros' to the Greek colonizers who spent two hundred years here. Although the Gulf War and Iraqi invasion have done a lot of damage to this paradise, it is still worth a visit. You will be amazed by the ancient relics and remains of past civilizations. In addition, a lot of new restaurants, pools, chalets and the like have come up on the island, so you can be assured of a day full of activities and fun. Regular boat rides from the island to the city will ferry you to and fro. So if you feel like escaping the hustle-bustle of Kuwait, there's no better place to go to than Failaka!
