Kamogawa Odori at Pontocho Kaburencho

• The geisha (or geiko) and maiko (trainee geisha) perform their Kamo Gawa Odori or (Kamo River dances) biannually in May and October/ November. Tickets for this popular and colorful spectacle of music and dance start from JPY2,000 and range up to JPY4,300 with tea. Early booking is advisable as people come from all over the country to catch these remarkable shows. There are three performances daily, at 12.30pm, 2.20pm and 4.10pm. The tantalizing dance and music, as well as the elegant costumes and make-up of the performers, will draw you in to the floating world of Kyoto's timeless past.
