• The Kyoto Takagi-Noh, or Noh by Firelight, is a festival that is not to be missed. Some of the leading exponents of the traditional performing arts known as Noh and Kyogen stage stunning performances by firelight in the magnificent surroundings of the Heian Shrine. Against a background of the vermillion buildings of the shrine, the flickering torches and special lighting create an atmosphere you are not likely to forget. Each evening also features a torchlight procession by children dressed in traditional kimonos. Make sure that you get there early enough to get a good seat.
