  • From juice bars to small cafes to hassle free meals, dining need not be problem for budget conscious tourists at Kyoto. At Shuetto there is something for everyone. Serving freshly-squeezed organic juices and bacon sandwiches, Shuetto's faux-Euro ceiling decor complements the clean and plain wooden interior. The cafe also sells a variety of health products. For the health conscious on a budget, Tosai offers a wide range of a la carte vegetable and tofu dishes, along with a good selection of beers, wines and sake. Noodle lovers can go to Tawaraya, a historic 400-year-old noodle restaurant just south of Kitano shrine. Here you can feast on a variety of traditional udon or soba dishes (thick or thin noodles) for a pittance. Rumiyuka is particularly popular with young tourists and students because of its no-nonsense functionality. The interior is simple, bright, clean and unfussy. The place also sells a wide selection of beers and wines. If you like skewers, Yakitori Ichiban serves chicken grilled over charcoal. Best enjoyed with beer, the place is a cozy wooden shack with a lively atmosphere. If you're yearning for a cheap meal in Kyoto, dig into these budget-friendly restaurants.
