  • The Best of NileGuide

  • Kyoto is real and vintage Japan, the place of the geisha and the 17th century tea houses. Today, its leading five star restaurants interestingly blend tradition and with Western influences. The inviting ambience of Le Bouchon makes it a pleasant place to while away the time. Order a glass of wine and try their tasty gratinee lyonnaise and canard roti aux oranges.
If you still crave French cooking, get the home-cooked goodness of nouveau cuisine when you try the dishes at Bistro Pompadour. The chef trained in France and worked for Kyoto's best hotels. A typical set course includes an entree, soup, seafood or meat main course, salad, dessert and coffee. The set menu changes daily and is displayed on a chalkboard outside.
Diners yearning for traditional Japanese food should visit You You Tei. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere with the whole place done in modern Japanese style. Menu items include salads, noodle dishes, and grilled chicken on a stick ( yakitori). The house specialty is gyusuji and daikon, which is cooked for 24 hours.
