Lively Restaurants in Kyoto

Visitorsnever get enough of the fun and traditional Japanese cuisine when they visit Kyoto. You don't have to look far to find the best noodle house or yakitori place. Indeed dining in Kyoto is as fun as the city's attractions. The oldest noodle house in Kyoto is Owariya, a purveyor to the Imperial Household. It has been around for 540 years. The place has served emperors and shoguns as well as the monks of many of the temples of Kyoto. Another great spot is You You Tei. The restaurant is not hard to find, simply look for the large illuminated white bird's wing hanging from the side of the building. The dining area is modern Japanese style, light wood floors, low tables and cushions (zabuton) for sitting. If you wish to dine and dance then head for the Tranq Room. Located in Kyoto's most popular tourist zone, the Tranq Room doubles as a live music salon on weekends. Choose from a wide range of drinks, including Neo-Asian teas, chai, lassi, beer, wine and sake. Tranq is WiFi ready so you can bring your laptop. Kyoto isn't just about history. The party scene is very much alive here, so get ready for some great food and good times.
