• Bistro Pompadour, situated on the way north to Kinkakuji Temple before the Waratenjin intersection, is a small, casual bistro serving fine nouveau cuisine French food. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of an apartment block and has a neat but rather 'homely' feel complete with net curtains. The chef and waiters dress the part, nevertheless. The chef has trained in France and worked at some of Kyoto's best hotels. A typical set course includes an entree, a delicious soup, a seafood or meat main course, salad and choice of dessert and coffee. The set menu changes daily and is displayed on a chalkboard outside.
