Description:
After inheriting a tofu shop, owner Hamano-san opened this small, casual restaurant to promote tofu's nutritious qualities. Look for a tiny tofu shop on narrow Pontocho; the entrance to the second-floor restaurant is around the corner to the right. The restaurant, with room for only a dozen or so diners, has an open kitchen and an English-language menu listing dengaku (broiled tofu with a miso coating), fried tofu, sesame tofu, and other dishes priced under ¥1,050 ($8.75/£4.40). It's easiest, however, to order one of the tofu kaiseki courses, which come with a variety of tofu and side dishes. You'll probably feel healthy after eating here.
