• Yakitori is skewers of chicken grilled over charcoal with a dash of soy sauce, and they are usually eaten with a glass of beer or sake or two. Look for the red lanterns near Sanjo Keihan station. The friendly owner of Yakitori Ichiban serves skewered squid, beef, octopus, fish and vegetables, as well as the usual variety of chicken bits, with plenty of beer, sake and wine to wash it down. Cozy wooden shack-like interior with a pretty lively atmosphere, as office workers and foreigners congregate for the tasty mix of grilled chicken and beer.
