Konchi-in Temple

Description:

  • The temple was established in the late 14th century, and renovated by Suden Ishin, a prominent priest associated with Ieyasu, who was responsible for its removal to this location in the early 17th century. Believed to have been designed by Enshu Kobori, Konchi-in's dry landscaped garden in the crane and tortoise style is as lovely if not as well known as that of Daitoku-ji's. Another focal point near the inside gate is a tranquil pond blanketed with water lilies.
