    • nice train ride to the village of Kurama , spend the day up at the temple and walk up to the onsen or they have a free bus from the station , then enjoy the outside bath which is good any season , they also have reasonable food which changes seasonally, very rural Japanese style . You can also stay and they have an inside and outside bath course if you want to wear Yukata ( cotton kimono ) , but the best for hikers and families, is to plan a weekday or a non holiday day as there will be less people and you can enjoy the ambience much better, for Lovers , the full course is good and food too, they have all the season delights too, cherry blossom, azaleas, maples and snow, plus Kurama temple is a good walk with the entrance close to Kurama station , and for the energetic get off at Kibune and walk up along the Kibune river past all the inns and Ryokans to the Kurama back entrance and walk over the mountain and come down to Kurama village passing all the temples and sub temples amid 1200 years of this really amazing place , down to the bath to give your boby a magical experience , then back on the Keifuku train to Kyoto for dinner, a good half day or full day if you go over from Kibune , or late afternoon if you just want the bath.
