Description:
- Kyoto Zoo, situated in Okazaki Park near Heian Jingu, is known more for its spring cherry blossoms and autumn maples than for its over 1000 animal inhabitants which include elephants, apes and big cats. This small and somewhat sad zoo, created in 1903, might be a place to bring the kids if nothing else springs to mind but if you are going to visit a zoo in Japan, Ueno in Tokyo is the better option.
