Description:
- Yuzen dyeing is a Kyoto specialty—various colors and patterns are printed onto silk fabric. The late 17th century artisan, Yuzensai Miyazaki, is recognized as the master of design in this complicated technique. The objective of the exhibit is to demonstrate the traditional method of dyeing resulting in the end product—beautiful kimono. Facilities include a coffee shop and gift shop. One also has the opportunity to participate in various studio demonstrations of this handicraft.
