Description:

  • Raku ware is the most well known abroad of the Japanese tea ceremony ceramics. Both Hideyoshi and the tea master Sen-no-Rikyu admired this pottery, which is elegant, simple and strong, capturing the essence of wabi spirit. The Raku enthusiast will be pleased with the tea bowl collection on the first floor. Pottery utensils and other tools of the trade are displayed on the second floor. Chojiro [1515-92] developed the unique pottery technique in the 16th century. Kichizaemon represents the 15th generation, 450 years of tradition.
