Taking a train would be the best. You get to see wonderful French countryside in a very comfortable setting. You can reserve directly online at www.sncf.fr.
Another option is to rent a car and drive down. Once you get out of Paris, you can take a motorway a lot of the way or you can do it leisurely and take the "routes nationales" where you really get to enjoy the towns and villages of France. Just be aware that the French drive in their own style, so you'd have to adapt.
